About

Hello, I'm Mai! I'm the owner and creator of Fake Alchemy. This little workshop of mine started in June 2014 making crystal accessories as a hobby, which then evolved into experimentations into concrete and glass homeware, and now metal jewelry using sterling silver and soon, gold. Everything is handcrafted by me in my little home studio in Metro Manila, Philippines or at Studio925 where I also teach metalsmithing. I make contemporary demi-fine jewelry using silver, sometimes brass, and semi-precious gems in small batches and occasionally I accept custom work.

Custom Orders

Unfortunately, I am currently on break from taking custom orders to pursue other interests and experimentations as well as learn new skills this 2024. Rest assured that I will resume with custom orders in the far future. I hope you can wait for me. I will however be offering preorders for some previous designs and best sellers. For updates, please follow Fake Alchemy on instagram (@fakealchemy).

Jewelry is meant to be worn and Fake Alchemy pieces are handcrafted to last. But while metal is sturdy, it is still delicate and should be taken care of. This is especially true for rings, wear and tear is only natural. Tiny nicks and scratches will accumulate over time due to impact/usage on a day to day basis and personally, I think that gives each piece it's own personality. But if you'd like to give your piece a refresh, I offer free professional cleaning and repolishing for your Fake Alchemy piece. Just send an email or a dm to request. Silver and Gold Jewelry Silver naturally oxidizes (darkens) over time and some gold pieces may dull specially when exposed to moisture, sweat, and air. To avoid tarnish, wipe dry with a clean cloth or polishing cloth and store in a zip lock bag when not in use. Chemicals / Goldplating and Oxidation Metals react with certain chemicals like chlorine, hand sanitizer, lotions, etc. It is advised to remove jewelry when applying these products as they may cause discoloration. Aggressive buffing may also scratch or remove plating and oxidation.
The best and most accurate way to get your ring size is to go to a local jeweler and have it checked. Or buy a cheap ring sizer. If unable, this article will show you several ways to get your ring size. https://www.wikihow.com/Find-Your-Ring-Size
Repairs Sometimes, things happen and you might find your Fake Alchemy piece damaged. I offer a one time free *minor repair for such situations. The next repair (hopefully no more) will incur a fee depending on the damage. Repairs that require soldering will be assessed first and I'll decide if there will be a fee or not. *Minor repairs include reshaping minor warps, scratch removal, chain fixes. Replating I offer free one time replating for goldplated pieces. Just send an email or dm on ig to request. For the next one, price starts at P300 or depending on surface area to be plated.
